Have you ever been in absolute darkness? I went for a tour of Mammoth Caves and when we were deep underground, they turned off the lights. Let me tell you! It was blacker than pitch! I couldn’t see my hand in front of my face.
One small match in that darkness made a huge difference. One little flashlight was a miracle in dispelling the fear and aloneness of the blackness that engulfed us.
In a world that is filled with darkness, depression, loneliness, disease, and sin, we are the light of the world. As Christian we are the light in the darkness. We are anti-darkness. We are hope where there is depression. We are friends to the friendless. We minister healing, and extend the message of God’s love and forgiveness.
You may be the only flame in someone’s darkness. Take care to keep your light burning brightly.
