Women are the worse of the two genders for looking backward and analyzing things to death. Women always want things to make sense, to be able to clean up the mess, and to pigeon hole things in nice neat compartments. It seems to me that men do what they can, put the past behind them and for the most part, let it go.
Sometimes the past is never going to make sense – EVER.
When it comes to the future, I think men are the ones who worry most. They worry about job security, health issues, losing their youth, and what comes tomorrow. Women are usually so busy with today and trying to figure out the past, that they let the future stay in the future.
I love what Ralph Waldo Emerson said about what lies within us being more important than the past or the future. The past may influence what is within us, but what is within us determines in large part what the future will be because of how we respond to the present.
These three forces are always working in us and around us – past, present, and future. They are always changing, flowing, swirling together and apart.
There is only One who never changes… God Almighty… the Alpha and Omega… the beginning and the end…
